Toys are a thing of slight hatred and happiness for me. I enjoy watching my kids play with their toys and games, and I especially enjoy watching them play NICELY together. But what irks me the most is the mess they create.
I'm not talking about the paint, play doh, and clay type of messes.....I'm talking about all the toys that either don't have an 'official' home or the ones that do have a home but never get put away. The floor gets littered with them, the tv room gets littered, my kitchen table gets littered with them too.
Each night I attempt to rid my kitchen table of the toys that seem to accumulate on it. I have to admit that I'm also to blame for the toys not going to their homes, I have a tendancy to plunk them wherever I find a flat surface in the toy room. Barbie dolls get thrown in the general direction of the Barbie home, and not placed in the home. Clip dolls are sometimes littered wherever they fall, even if they actually have their own drawer.
I think we are drowning in toys. But my hardest thing I find is not being able to sort through them and get rid of them. Every time I do try to sort through them I know that on some occasion my kids do play with the baby dolls. Not so often anymore as they've grown up a bit, but they do play 'Mommy' sometimes.
Maybe I need to be more stern about tidying up the play room. Now that summers here, we could start on a routine of cleaning the playroom in the evenings. Make it completely clean, and TRY to repeat the cleaning process each night.
Any suggestions to help keep a playroom tidy?
